KooKatchu is on the move!

Quite literally! I've manage to secure a new job in Norwich, meaning the wife and I are moving back to Beccles!

The other literal is that I'm currently posting this via the new Blogger iPhone app. Seems ok so far, and it's free so who can complain really? Maybe this means I'll start posting more than twice a year..? We'll see :c)

In gaming related news, I've started playing Red Dead Redemption and really enjoying it! Well I was but I've lost interest for the moment... It's definitely worth a go though if you enjoy GTA. I find myself enjoying RDR more than GTA, due to the complete freedom it offers, along with the massive world you play in. I'll do a proper review some time soon.

We've also got our Gears 3 special edition coming next week - can't wait! And in other special edition news, we should be securing our Skyrim special edition today too!

Anyhoo, better get. I'll catch up soon!

Woah!!

Hey, long time no see!

As if it's been two years since I last posted on this! I really need to get back on it...

Right, well, yes, two years have past (nearly) and I have two years of gaming and gadgetry to get you up to speed with. Where do I start...

Firstly, got myself the iPhone 4 last June (2010) and couldn't be happier with it! I had the 3G for 18 months, but upgrading to the 4 was the best decision ever! It's so much slicker, faster and easier to use. There's the new multitasking capabilities which make using apps so much easier, as they don't shut down every time you exit them. This is a time saver when on the bus, and all I want to do it check my news, Facebook and emails, without waiting hours for it to load. But hey, I'll do a proper blog on this another day :c)

Secondly, got the PS3 again! Had to get it, the missus was missing Ratchett and Clank and Uncharted too much... That and we needed a new blu-ray player. First four days were a disaster, as we bought a pre-owned 60gb, which promptly YYOLD (yellow light of death, yes I could have just written that, but I didn't want to), four days later. We then decided to go for a nice new slim model and pay the extra. We've been through a fair few games on that within the last 6 months, so will do a proper catch up at some point...

Finally, the 360 is still going :c) Been ripping through games on that like there's no tomorrow, such as the Assassin Creed games (the good ones), Fable 3, Skate 3, Fifa 10 and 11 and so many more!

Right, I just wanted to let you know I hadn't forgotten about you, and will do a proper post soon!

Take it easy guys!

Has it been this long already?

Hey guys, been a while again eh? Well, I have been rather busy :-)

Firstly, life is goooood right now. Got a proper adult full time job, which is secure. I'm loving living in Cambridge and everything is going very well with the missus at the moment :-)

Ok, down to business, games.

Mirrors Edge is no more in my collection. Really couldn't be bothered with it. Such a shame really, but maybe I'll go back to it. Prince of Persia I haven't really played much since last time, but I do still want to play it. Maybe I'll get onto it this week.

What I have been playing is Skate 2, the sequel to one of my favourite games of last year. I had to get the new one on release, and have played it non-stop since! As a fan of the Tony Hawks games, it's been great to play a truly realistic skating game.

The controls are just as smooth as before, but is hindered by the response time of the PS3 controller sometimes. (Yes yes, bad work man, blames tools, yadda yadda) The location is the same as the previous game, San Vanelona, but set futher in the future. Basically, the skater you made in the last game has spent time in the slammer for one reason or another, and is back to reclaim the streets. I didn't really pay attention to the story, I just wanted to skate :-)

The tricks in Skate 2 are the same as the previous, but have added lip tricks, more grabs and one footed tricks. They have also added the ability to get off of your board and move around!

I would definitely recommend Skate 2 to anyone who has played the previous Skate, or have played any of the Tony Hawks games. Or, if you have never played a skateboarding game before, give it a go :-)

Another game I've been playing is Midnight Club: Las Vegas. It's alright, nothing really to write home about. It's not broken, but it's not superb. It's a street racing game. It does everything it says on the tin!

We've also had a go on Fallout 3, but really couldn't get into it. But it has got us back into Oblivion! The guys behind Fallout 3 created the best open world RPG on the 360, and Fallout 3 is very similar to it, but it's not for us.

Future games to look out, Bayonetta for a start! If you like your Devil May Cry types, where you spend the game button bashing, then you just might like Bayonetta. Check out the website!

Right, I'm offskis! Take it easy!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etc.

Tis the season! Well, it was. Back to normal tomorrow and back to work.  Despite having a fair bit of time off of work, haven't really had the chance to game. I have bought a couple of new games, Mirrors Edge and Prince of Persia.

Firstly, Mirrors Edge.

Yeh, it's ok. Thoroughly annoying though! You'll be sprinting through the level, getting a good flow going, then you'll suddenly hit an area where it is unclear of where to go. I've been stuck on a certain area for four days! It is an underrated game, but I can understand why it hasn't been picked up by more people. Glad I only paid £15 for it, to be honest.

Secondly, Prince of Persia. This is a game I am thoroughly enjoying! It's a game I can sit back and enjoy. The fighting system works, the flow of the game works and the new look works :-) Yes, the addition of this new Princess can get a bit annoying, but it's a welcome addition for someone who has never played a Prince of Persia game. Definitely worth a look at.

In other news, it's been my missus' birthday this week! Went shopping, had a lovely chinese in the city and saw a really shitty film. The new version of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Unfortunately, I was unaware that it starred Keanu Reeves. Still a really crap actor, and ruined the film for me. He was his usually wooden self, displaying as much talent for acting as a spoon. Definitely was not worth the buy one get one free entrance fee.

Anyway, I'll catch you guys later!

It's been a while...

Hello there stranger!

Sorry it's been a while since I last posted on here, been far too busy to do anything!

Firstly, work has been busy as hell! Had to reapply for my own job, as I'm wanting to go permanent. It's a stupid red tape bollocks of a process that needs to be done. I'm just waiting for an interview date, and fingers crossed :-)

Anyway, main thing in my life is games, as you all know, and have been playing a couple of corkers recently...

First thing to be taking up my time is the new Pro Evo. Yes yes, "it's just a football game" I hear you cry! But it's the first time I've actually spent this much time on a footie game, in years! It just works for me. I'm not a fan of Fifa, but might give the new one a go. The handling works, and the game has a slower pace, so it feels more realistic. Graphics wise, it's pretty standard for a football game, and the likenesses are actually better than Fifa! (Interesting, baring in mind that the Fifa games hold the official FA licenses).

Another game I've been playing, mainly with the missus, is Gears of War 2. Fuck me it's fucking awesome!! Perfect co-op game! It looks bloody amazing! I recommend it to anyone who's up for blood, gore and awesome weapons. The story is gripping, with lots of twists and turns. We've almost finished it, and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it!

Another game I've been "watching" is Fable 2. The missus grabbed it and got hooked. She's a big fan of Oblivion, and Fable 2 is a like a more casual version of it. I've watched her play the whole bloody game! It's a very glitchy piece of sofware, but even that doesn't defer from the fun of it. The dog you have as a companion is bloody good at sniffing out treasure for you, and you find yourself talking to it, a lot! You have the family aspect of the game, as well being able to marry your gay lover. I've had two wives so far, I murdered the first one because she was a fat moany bitch! The second one is much better :-)

Lastly, I've received my copy of Little Big Planet. As you guys know, I have spent the last six months testing it, and it's quite close to my heart. The game has all the British charm you would expect from a British developer. The narrator is Stephen Fry (how British!!!), and he fits the feel of the game perfectly. I highly recommend it to anyone with a PS3, and if you don't have a PS3, get one for it!!! The best side of the game has to be the community. There's another world, full of levels developed by the players of Little Big Planet. There are several which need to be played to be believed! There's a particular one, Azure Palace, which is just beautiful. I can't wait to see how the community matures, and the levels get better, as people get used to the tools.

Anyway, I've chewed your ear off for enough tonight. I'll have to catch up with you soon.

Take it easy guys!

Gears of Wow!

Good morning folks!

Well, just woken up from a late night of excellency! Nothing better than spending a rainy, Saturday night, with your other half playing Gears of War 2 on co-op. Also got some beer in and had pizza. Heaven!

Well, Gears of War 2 is bloody awesome! I wasn't a big fan of the original, but once I got playing it with the other half, I slowly started to enjoy it. Got the sequel Friday after work, (had to go straight there, couldn't wait any longer) and start playing it last night. I reckon we're about half way, after playing for 6 hours non-stop :-)

It's bloody brilliant! The graphics are the bst I've seen on the 360 for a while, and the gameplay is superb. The controls are exactly the same as the original, and the feel of the game is wonderful. It's such a visceral experience, and is so engaging, that we couldn't put it down! We had to stop in the end, as we were both tired!

Speaking of games, I bought Fable 2 a couple of weeks ago, and have only had the chance to play it a few times. The other half has been playing it, and is playing it right now! She only got up about an hour and an half ago, and went straight on it!

Anyhoo, I'm off to watch the other half play more games! Catch ya later :-)

This is awkward...

Uhm... hey!

I'm not very good at these I'm afraid. This is the first time I've done this, and don't really know what I doing lol.

Well, the name's KooKatchu (or Cat, depending on who you are), and I'm a Data and Information Assistant for the NHS. Sounds exciting, but it's not really. It's a support role for the IT department, blah, blah, yes I know, sorry.

Well, I guess from now one I'll be detailing my life, as and when it happens. It won't be anything exciting, but it'll be theraputic for me at least :-)

Anyhoo, I'll catch ya later!
